FERGAL TOBIN is a publisher and author based in Dublin, Ireland. For more than twenty-five years until his retirement in 2013, he was Publishing Director of Gill & Macmillan, Ireland’s oldest and largest publishing house. He is currently consultant to Irish Times Books. He lectures at post-graduate level on the business and practice of publishing, as well as on English grammar and usage.
As an author, he has published over twelve books of popular history – mostly under the pseudonym Richard Killeen. He has now abandoned the pseudonym and continues to write under his own name. His most recent book is The Irish Revolution 1912-23.
He has attended every Frankfurt Book Fair since 1982; was President of Publishing Ireland, the national trade association, from 2002 to 2004; and was President of the Federation of European Publishers, based in Brussels, from 2010 to 2012.
